Raw Foods

Rainbow has a bountiful Raw Foods section. "Raw" or "Living" foods have not been cooked, so they retain most of their original nutrients and living enzymes. The Raw products we carry are cookies, crackers, bars, granola, chips, and other treats that have been dehydrated at low temperatures. They keep without refrigeration, and are packed with nutrition. Many of them are organic, and all are vegan.

Rainbow was one of the first stores to dedicate a section of the store to Raw Foods, and we are constantly bringing new items in and expanding the section. We feature brands such as Blessings Alive and Radiant, Lydia's Lovin' Foods, Gopal's, Govinda's, and Freeland Foods, and new brands arrive on a regular basis.

Many Raw Foods use nuts and seeds (especially flax seeds) that have been soaked and sprouted, which helps the digestive process make use of the nutrients. Some of the products are simple blends of uncooked fruits and nuts, while others are highly developed creations incorporating esoteric ingredients and processes.

In all cases, the products are highly concentrated by the dehydration process, so what appears to be a small bar or a small packet of crackers is in fact a large amount of food; a little goes a long way. It is best to drink plenty of water when eating these concentrated foods.

These are treats that will treat you right!
